Electrical testing, power system studies and consultancy
Vibhawa provides electrical testing services, power system studies and consultancy as an independent electrical engineering consultancy, led by Chartered Electrical Engineers, with in-house Level III and Level II certified infrared thermographers and a maintained ETAP licence. We test, model, simulate and audit electrical systems for industrial plants, renewable and conventional power plants, utilities, commercial buildings and hospitality — on site in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and for clients in Australia, Vietnam, Singapore, Qatar and the UK. And we sign what we find.

What we do: electrical testing services and studies
Six service lines. Most clients start with one and come back for the one next to it, because the same engineers who test a switchboard can model it, and the same model that gives you a protection setting gives you an arc flash label.

Power System Studies
Protection coordination, arc flash, load flow and short circuit — plus harmonic, motor starting, transient and cable sizing studies. Built from your drawings, delivered without a site visit, signed by a Chartered Engineer.

Electrical Testing & Commissioning
MV systems to 33 kV and LV distribution, protection relay testing, transformer testing, earthing and lightning protection — before energisation and for plants already in service.
Explore Testing & Commissioning →
Electrical Safety Audits
Finding the hazards and compliance gaps in an installation before they become an incident, an insurance problem or an audit finding. Findings classified by danger, not listed.
Explore Safety Audits →
Aerial Inspection & Survey
Drone inspection of energy and industrial assets: aerial thermography of solar PV, substations and transmission structures, and 3D thermal modelling of substations.

Electrical Consultancy
HV, MV and LV design and independent design review, protection and automation scheme design, and root-cause investigation after an electrical incident.

Infrared Thermography
Thermographic inspection of switchboards, motors and plant by certified thermographers, delivered through our specialist arm, thermography.lk.

The short version: we are qualified to sign, and nobody on our side earns from the recommendation.
We do not sell switchgear, install systems or hold a stake in what the report recommends. That is what "Consultants" in the name means: when we say a transformer is at risk or a relay setting is wrong, nobody on our side earns from the fix. Insurers, lenders and multinational parents ask for that independence by name.
Our team includes Chartered Electrical Engineers and in-house Level III and Level II certified thermographers, under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system. In practice that means you can bring us a problem at almost any stage — design, commissioning, or fifteen years into operation — and get an answer from someone qualified to sign off on it, not just flag it.
Seven countries, named work in each
Testing, audits and thermography travel with our engineers. Studies and design travel without them — which is why a plant in Vietnam or a substation in the UK is served on the same terms as one in Colombo.
Not sure which service you need?
Describe the site and the problem — a nuisance trip, an insurer's letter, a new installation waiting to be energised, a transformer running hot — and we will tell you which service answers it, or which two go together. The single most useful thing to send ahead of a first call is the single-line diagram.
Frequently asked
What is the difference between consultancy, studies and testing?
Testing is hands-on work at your site: commissioning, relay testing, insulation and cable tests, condition assessment. Studies are analytical work on a model of your system — coordination, arc flash, load flow, short circuit and more — built from your data without a visit. Consultancy is design, design review and investigation. Many projects need two of the three, which is why they are delivered by one team.
Do you work outside Sri Lanka?
Yes. We deliver testing, audits and thermography in the Maldives with our own engineers on site, and have carried out thermography in Singapore. Power system studies and design have been delivered for clients in Australia, Vietnam, Qatar and the UK. Studies need no site visit, so distance does not change the price or the timeline.
Are your engineers and thermographers certified?
Yes. The team includes Chartered Electrical Engineers and in-house infrared thermographers certified at Level III and Level II. See our affiliations and certifications for the full list.
Which sectors do you work in?
Industrial plants, renewable and conventional power plants, utilities, commercial buildings and hospitality — from cement and apparel to floating solar, pumped hydro, ports and island resorts.
What is WRENS?
Our QR-based asset condition record. Each asset we test is tagged; scanning the tag on site shows its current condition status and test history, so the record lives with the equipment rather than in a binder.
How do I get a quote?
Send a short description of the site and the problem, and the single-line diagram if you have one. We scope and quote from that, and tell you if anything is missing before the price moves.
Tell us what the site is and what went wrong
That is usually enough to point you at the right service and give you a price. If you are not sure which service it is, that is a fine place to start.
